"What are the total costs involved with a Utility Patent Application?"

A Non-Provisional (Utility) Patent Application is less expensive to in the long run than a provisional. Here's the breakdown:

$200 - $1,600

Issuance & Publication Fee to PTO
$1,125
Additional Total for Published Patent:
$1,325 - $up

Once your patent is granted, you'll have three "Maintenance Fees" to pay at various times after the publication date. These are as follows:

3.5 Years After Patent Granted

$490

7.5 Years After Patent Granted
$1,240
11.5 Years After Patent Granted
